Statement from Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre on the Anniversary of 9/11 and National Day of Service

Ottawa, ON – The Hon. Pierre Poilievre, Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada and the Official Opposition, released the following statement on the anniversary of 9/11 and the National Day of Service:

“At 8:46am on September 11th, 2001, the world ground to a halt. Canadians watched in horror as nearly 3,000 lives, including 24 Canadians, were taken in a monstrous act of terrorism. We continue to pray for the families and loved ones whose lives were devastated by this horrific tragedy.

“Amidst the chaos and confusion, we saw the bravery and dedication of the first responders who rushed towards imminent danger to rescue the victims. The generosity of those in Gander, Newfoundland in welcoming over six thousand diverted passengers and crew provided a beacon of hope.

“The National Day of Service recognizes the extraordinary acts of selflessness made by the common men and women of our country and encourages Canadians to uphold the spirit of goodwill that provided light in the darkness.

“Conservatives will always fight for freedom over fear and light over darkness. May the remembrance of all lives lost on this day, and the resilience of Canadians and Americans shown in the aftermath, rededicate us to this essential mission.

“Never Forget.”
